Northern Health Region
The Northern Regional Health Authority (Northern Health Region) was created in May 2012 through the amalgamation of the former NOR-MAN and the Burntwood Regional Health Authorities . The Northern Health Region is geographically, the largest of the five RHAs in the province of Manitoba.
The Northern Health Region has a population of 72,000 people spread over 396,000 km², resulting in a population density of 0.18 persons per km² compared to 2.19 persons per km² for the entire province of Manitoba.
The Northern Health Region is committed to working through the amalgamation process in a way which will minimize disruptions to the delivery of programs and services. Our goal, from a service delivery standpoint, is as seamless amalgamation process. We are committed to moving ahead without delay to ensure as smooth process.
The amalgamation will not result in a reduction of front line staff or health professionals. Maintaining the care we provide is a top priority. Government’s stated objective for the amalgamation is to help redirect resources to support front line care and services. We will do our part to reach that objective.
